James “Jay” Horace Morgan Jr.

James “Jay” Horace Morgan Jr., 65, of Dawsonville, died Aug. 15, 2017.

Born April 14, 1952 in Atlanta, Jay was the son of James Horace “J.H.” Morgan Sr. and the late Frances M. Morgan.

He had been a resident of Dawsonville for 21 years.

Jay attended the University of Florida in counseling and graduated from Emory University with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and a master’s degree in nursing.

He was a nurse practitioner in a family practice serving the Blairsville area until recently.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He was also dedicated to his patients that he treated and was much loved by all.

He lived out his service to god as a leader in his church, Wesley Chapel United Methodist.

Jay did everything with excellence and it showed in all areas of his life and with those he loved.

His life centered around his wife, family, friends, home and pets.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 31 years, Mimi Ridgely Morgan of Dawsonville; daughters and sons-in-law, Allison and Mark Hayes of Atlanta, Ashley McCash of Ooltewah, Tenn., Holly and David Erickson of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Zachary Erickson, Miriam Hayes, Ford Hayes, Ridgely Erickson, Rylie Erickson; sisters, Rena, Laurie, Vicki; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rusty and Julia Ridgely; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 20 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. C.R. Hill Jr and the Rev. Calvin Ward officiating. Interment followed in the Wesley Chapel United Methodist church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made in memory of Mr. Morgan to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, 1751 Wesley Chapel Rd., Dahlonega, GA 30533.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
