James Everett Evans, 75, of Dawsonville, died July 23, 2017.
Born Dec. 16, 1941, Everett was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and was a friend to all. He retired from working in commercial construction after 45 years of service, after which he owned a construction and foundation company.
He was an avid rabbit hunter and possessed a passion for his beagles.
Mr. Evans was a deacon of Sweetwater Baptist Church.
His father, James E. "Jim Ed" Evans, and a son-in-law, Joe Edd Allen, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Lucille Kent Evans of Dawsonville; daughters, Denise Allen of Gainesville, Cindy Johnson of Dawsonville; mother, Lucille Evans of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Jameson Johnson, Ashley Allen, Olivia Johnson; great-grandson, Klayton Cartledge; brothers and sister-in-law, Eugene and Donna Evans of Fairhope, Ala., David Evans of Dawsonville; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. July 26 at Sweetwater Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Flowers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
