James Eugene Wilson, J.D., 86, died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009.

He was the city attorney for Dawsonville during the term of Mayor Howard Roper.

A native of Savannah, Mr. Wilson was the son of the late Myrtle Thompson Wilson and the late Dr. James French Wilson.

Mr. Wilson graduated from Savannah High School, attended the University of Georgia for one year, and entered the Marines during WWII, serving in the Philippines and China. He graduated from Armstrong Junior College, earned his Doctorate in Law from Emory University, and practiced law for 60 years.

He authored five books, including the best seller, "How to Fight the IRS & Win."

Mr. Wilson was an active member of Clairmont Hills Baptist Church and served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. He was an avid table tennis player, winning a GA District II championship in 2002.

His sister, Margaret Wilson Erickson; and brothers, Robert Evan Wilson and Ralph Daniel Wilson, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Caroline Lord Wilson of Atlanta; daughters, Caroline Christie and husband, Dr. Alan Metzel, of Dawsonville, Elizabeth Hudetz and husband, John, of Ft. Collins, Colo.; son, James Eugene Wilson, Jr. of Atlanta; three granddaughters, Christie Rodgers, Maggie Mabie and Aria Hudetz; two grandsons, Previn Hudetz and Hollis Hudetz; two great-grandsons, Curtiss Cavitt and Jacob Rodgers; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held Thursday, Nov. 12 at Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Benevolent Fund at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church, 1995 Clairmont Road, Decatur, GA 30033.
