James E. "Jim" Chastain, 76, of Marble Hill, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 at Piedmont Mountainside Hospital.

  

Born Dec. 15, 1932 to the late Charlie C. "Butch" and Wylene Chastain, he was a lifelong resident of Dawson County.

  

Mr. Chastain was a commercial truck driver for many years, after which he was employed by the Dawson County Government.

  

His sister, Irma V. Swafford; and, brothers, Roy Chastain, Clint Chastain and Winston Chastain also preceded him in death.

  

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Vonnell Chastain of Marble Hill; children, Jimmy Chastain, Ricky and Tabatha Chastain, all of Dawsonville, Vickie and Stanley Allen, Freddie Chastain, all of Marble Hill; sister, Wilma C. Cox of Marble Hill; grandchildren, David Chastain, Ashley Albano, Emma Allen, Scott Chastain, Rhonda Chastain, Morgan Chastain; great-grandchildren, Gracee Chastain, Blake Chastain; various other relatives also survive.

  

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jason Hamby, Casey Martin and Joey Gilbert officiating. Interment followed in the Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.

  

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
