James B. Jim Bassett

James B. "Jim" Bassett, 63, of Gainesville, died Sept. 11, 2013.

Born Aug. 28, 1950 in San Diego, Calif., to the late John and Jeanne Bassett, he had lived in Gainesville for the past year having moved from Dawsonville.

Mr. Bassett was formerly employed as an engineer with Secure USA and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era.

Survivors include his sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Tom Quintrell of Dawsonville, Susan and Eubia Hall of Suwanee; son, James Curtis Bassett; niece, Katie Hall Clark and her husband, Scott; nephew, Kevin Quintrell; various other relatives also survive.

The family received friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Sept. 13 at Bearden Funeral Home. A memorial service was provided by the Dawson County Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of Association at 7 p.m.

Bearden Funeral Home of Dawsonville was in charge of the arrangements.
