Horace L. "Hoss" Whitmire, 76, a lifelong resident of Cumming, died Aug. 12, 2011.

He was a member of Mt. Tabor Baptist Church.

Horace was a loving and caring man of God.

His first wife, Joan Whitmire; parents, Lendon and Jessie Whitmire; and daughter, Vicki Whitmire, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Whitmire of Cumming; children, Donnie (Becky) Whitmire, Lynne (Jimmy) Thomason, Dale (Charles) Flynn of Cumming, Donna (Billy) Adams, Kenny Voyles, all of Cumming, Terry (Kim) Whitmire of Dahlonega, Kelly (Tonya) Whitmire, Joe (Patricia) Jenkins, all of Dawsonville, Susan (Rodney) Goss of Buford; sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Larry Rollins of Ellijay; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Aug. 15 in the chapel of Ingram Funeral Home with the Revs. Chris Grinstead, David Skinner, Robbie Mathis, Jack Pilcher and Allen Boyd officiating. Interment followed in Sawnee View Gardens.

Ingram Funeral Home of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
