Henry Lewis Young, 77, died Nov. 15, 2015.

Born in Atlanta, to the late Henry Lewis Young Sr. and Rosa Croft Young, on March 9, 1938, Henry graduated from Murphy High School in Atlanta in 1956.

He joined the 82nd Airborne Division and served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1957 to 1961.

For many years he was Judge Advocate of the 82nd Airborne Division Association.

Henry graduated from Emory University in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and was elected a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

In 1967 he graduated from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served as Articles Editor of the University of Virginia Law Review, after which he practiced law in the State of Georgia for 47 years.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Detweiler; son and daughter-in-law, James Britton and Kelly Young of Sanford, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Maria Croft Young and Larry Price of San Marcos, Texas; sister, Rosa Young McNairy of Greensboro, N.C.; brothers, Robert Croft Young and J. Richard Young, both of Atlanta; grandson, Britton Allen Young; granddaughters, Brooke Ellen Young and Savannah Blaire Young; nine nieces and nephews and 15 great-nieces and nephews; various other relatives also survive.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Nov. 21 at The Church of the Apostles-North, 34 Grant Rd. West, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

The family will receive visitors after the service.

Henry's ashes will be scattered at a later date by the family at Brasstown Bald, the highest natural point in Georgia.
