Hammond A. Young, 98, of Cumming, formerly of Acworth, N.H. and most recently of Dawsonville, died Oct. 23, 2009.

He was an educator and a superintendent of schools and he touched many lives.

Mr. Young would have been 99 in January.

Survivors include his three children, Barry and Jackie Young of Ellsworth, Maine, Bruce and Donna Young, Sally and Steve Barnum, all of Dawsonville; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 at the Acworth Cemetery in Acworth, N.H.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Acworth Meeting House Restoration Project, United Church of Acworth, P.O. Box 111, Acworth, NH 03601.

McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming is in charge of the arrangements.
