Evelyn W. Smith, 91, of Dawsonville, died June 4, 2017.

Born Jan. 16, 1926 to the late Boyd and Lillian Wiles in Oakland, Tenn., Evelyn had been a resident of Dawson County since 1981, coming from Atlanta.

A member of First Redeemer Catholic Church in Cumming, she was an active member of the Dawson County and Georgia Republican Party and also a long time leader in the Dawson County Woman's Club.

Her husband, Charles C. Smith Jr.; brother, Thomas Wiles; sisters, Ellen Boals, Bertha Butler, Glenda Wiles and Ernestine Wiles, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Brad and Robin Smith of Louisville, Tenn., Jeff and Cindy Smith of Alpharetta, Clint Smith of Dawsonville, Mitchell Smith of Milledgeville; brother, Raymond Wiles of Columbus; grandchildren, Jane, Wesley, Garrett and Tatum Smith; various other relatives also survive.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. June 9 at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. June 10 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Larry Aultman officiating.

Interment services will be held at 12:30 p.m. June 12 in the Georgia National Cemetery.
