Evelyn W. Smith, 91, of Dawsonville, died June 4, 2017.

Born Jan. 16, 1926 to the late Boyd and Lillian Wiles in Oakland, Tenn., Evelyn had been a resident of Dawson County since 1981, coming from Atlanta.

A member of First Redeemer Church in Cumming, she was an active member of the Dawson County and Georgia Republican Party and also a long time leader in the Dawson County Woman's Club.

Her husband, Charles C. Smith Jr.; brother, Thomas Wiles; sisters, Ellen Boals, Bertha Butler, Glenda Wiles and Ernestine Wiles, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Brad and Robin Smith of Louisville, Tenn., Jeff and Cindy Smith of Alpharetta, Clint Smith of Dawsonville, Mitchell Smith of Milledgeville; brother, Raymond Wiles of Columbus; grandchildren, Jane, Wesley, Garrett and Tatum Smith; various other relatives also survive.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. June 9 at the funeral home.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. June 10 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Larry Aultman officiating.

Interment services were held at 12:30 p.m. June 12 in the Georgia National Cemetery.
