Ellen Johnson, 75, of Dawsonville, died Jan. 22, 2018.
Ms. Johnson was born June 19, 1942 to the late Sam and Sylvia Gayton in Ellijay. Formerly of Cumming, she had been a resident of Dawsonville for over 30 years. Ellen was a member of Silver City Baptist Church and worked as the cafeteria manager at Blacks Mill Elementary School until her retirement.
Her husband, Jerry Garrett; and stepdaughters, Carolyn Daniel and Jackie Pickering, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her sister, Martha Pickering of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Stacie and Kevin Tanner of Dawsonville, Tyler and Felicia Tinsley of Dawsonville, Missy and Kenneth Wallace of Cumming; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Abbie, Chloe, Yenni and Gavin; great-great-grandchildren, Nate, Brooke, Jayden; special nephew, David Pickering of Dawsonville; special friend, Pat Gillian of Dawsonville; stepdaughter, Jan Rigdon; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Jan. 25 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Sorrells, Rev. Stephen Davis and Rev. Brady Holbrook officiating. Interment followed in Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Jan. 24.
