Eleese Adamson Shaddix, 89, of Dalton, died Dec. 23, 2013.

Her husband, Henry Shaddix Sr.; parents, Awyer and Alice Adamson; brother, Bill Joe Adamson; and sister, Myra McKendree, preceded her in death.

She was a dedicated high school teacher for 40 years, along with her husband, Henry C., who was a teacher and football coach.

She loved being with her family and spending her summers at the cabin on Lake Harding for 60 plus years. There she could enjoy being with her children, family and friends as they fished, boated and skied.

Eleese loved to play card games and dominos at the cabin.

She was an avid reader and loved to share her books with family, students and friends.

Eleese loved teaching and was always involved in all school functions, fundraisers and any and all sporting events.

Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Matthews of Dawsonville; son and daughters-in-law, Henry Jr. and Shelva Shaddix of Dalton, Randy and Michele Shaddix of Marietta, Scott and Dorinda Shaddix of Chelesa, Ala.; grandchildren, Robin Roland, Andy and Lyndsey Wallace, Kara and Dalton Shaddix, Stacey and Steve Carpenter and Beth Diyenno; six great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Dec. 26, 2013 at the Pleasant Grove Chapel of Julian Peeples Funeral Home with the Revs. Ron McKinney, Dwight Wilson and Matt Evans officiating.

An additional funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Dec. 27, 2013 at Johnson Brown Funeral Home in Valley, Ala.

Burial was held in the Pleasant Grove Congregational Christian Church in Penton, Ala.

Julian Peeples Funeral Home, Pleasant Grove Chapel, in Dalton, was in charge of the arrangements.
