Edward Davis Powell, 55, died July 23, 2009.

  

Ed was devoted to family and friends, and to the care of all our animal relations on the planet. He spent much of his time working toward building an animal shelter in Dawsonville and for the Save the Wolves program.

  

Ed and his brother both achieved Eagle rank in the Boy Scouts of America.

His father, Johnny W. Bartlett; adoptive father, Homer Powell; grandparents, Fletcher Morgan and Muriel Clark Fomby, Edd R. and Etta Mae Bartlett and Ann Powell; canine companion, Scarlett, preceded him in death.

  

Survivors include his mother, Martha Fomby Forrester (Tim); aunts, Jo M. and Cay W. Gavin; brother, S. Clark Powell (Vicki); sisters, Ann P. Peach (Charles), Janice Powell, Kathleen Rivest (Michael); nephew, Alaric Morgan Powell; nieces, Camber James Peach and Sarah Powell Miron (Jesse); great-nephew, Jace B. Peach; beloved canine companion, Rhett; various other relatives also survive.

  

A memorial service will be held at the Homer Powell Nature Center in Titusville, Fla. at a date to be announced.

  

Memorial donations may be made in Ed's memory to the ASPCA, Save the Wolves, donate your time or money to building a shelter in Dawsonville or give to an animal protection/adoption program of your choice.
