Donald Ramey, 75, of Dawsonville, died Jan. 5, 2013.

Born Jan. 4, 1938, in Buford to the late Cicero and Ada Ramey, he had lived in Dawson County for the past 16 years having moved from Cumming. Mr. Ramey owned and operated Ramey's Concrete and Finishing for 50 years.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Donald always had a smile for everyone and his quick wit brought joy to those around him.

He was a member of New Life Church of God.

His first wife, Dean Cantrell Ramey; sisters, Jackie Clay and Nellie West; and brothers, Floyd Ramey, Fred Ramey and William "Bill" Ramey, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Collins Ramey of Dawsonville; children, Eddie and Sheila Ramey, Nell and Tommy Bryson, Lori and Greg Cloud, all of Cumming, Mark Ramey and Beth Thomas of Blue Ridge; stepson and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Linda Chester of Cumming; daughters-in-law, Rachael George of South Carolina, Barbara Pitts of Cumming; sisters and brothers-in-law, Essie Mae and James Grissom of Suwanee, Lois Bolden of Lawrenceville, Minnie Tuggle of Buford, Jean and Walter "Sparky" Martin of Sugar Hill, Patsy Paige of Oakwood, Dot Holbrook of Woodstock; special friends, Jim and Yvonne Zalewski of Cumming; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Jan. 8 in the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Owens officiating. Private interment services were held in Sawnee View Gardens.
