Denver Denny Ade Martin

Denver "Denny" Ade Martin, 65, of Cumming, died July 17, 2012.

His parents, Ade and Olive Martin of Canton, preceded him in death.

Denver was born in Lindsay, Okla. on Dec. 29, 1946.

He was a Navy veteran and ranked as SFM3 on the USS Snohomish County Lst 1126, serving two tours in Vietnam, 1966-1970.

After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Denver moved to Georgia and began sprint car racing. At one time, in his No. 47 car, he held a fastest dirt track time in Anniston, Ala.

Denver loved the open road and enjoyed his career as a truck driver.

He also enjoyed precious time spent with his family. His family and many friends will forever remember his love for God, his kindness, patience, understanding and sense of humor.

Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Audrey Sutton Martin; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Pat and Wayne Shelton of Alpharetta, Mary Ann and Lon Brunson of Turlock, Calif.; children, Lindsay Mills of Spanish Fort, Ala., Dawn and Jeff Miller, Allen Dyer and fiancé Stephanie Bray, Shane and Erica Dyer, all of Dawsonville; 10 grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. July 21 at Pleasant View Baptist Church, at which Denver was a member, with the Revs. Jerry Frazier and Jerry McCormick officiating. Interment followed at Pleasant View Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to Pleasant View Baptist Church Youth Group.

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
