Claude F. "Bud" Nix, 81, of Big Canoe, died July 17, 2013.

Born Aug. 5, 1931, to the late Claude F. Sr. and Dorothy Nix, he was a native of Arlington, Va.

Mr. Nix moved from Cobb County to Big Canoe in 1990. He retired in 1989 as an industrial engineer with Lockheed after 25 years of service.

Bud was a gentle and tender father who loved his family and friends.

Golf was his favorite pastime, especially on the Big Canoe course with his companions.

He had a talent to fix or rebuild anything mechanical including vintage sports cars, clocks and appliances. Clocks and watches became his indoor hobby and in recent years he enjoyed helping anyone who needed assistance or repairs.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Martha Nix of Big Canoe; children, David and Mandy Nix of Clarkesville, Linda Nix of Alpharetta; granddaughter, Sarah Nix of Asheville, N.C.; various other relatives also survive.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. July 27, in the Big Canoe Chapel.
