Charles Jerry Cox, 80, of Alpharetta, died Aug. 14, 2017.
He was born July 14, 1937 in Alpharetta, to the late Ernest and Mildred Cox.
He lived most of his life in Athens, and almost 20 years in Dawsonville.
He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and Michigan State, received a bachelor’s degree from UGA and a master’s degree and PhD from Michigan State.
He worked with the University of Georgia Extension Service and Gold Kist before owning his own business as a real estate professional before retiring.
Her parents and his brothers, Donald and Thomas Cox, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Woodall Cox of Dawsonville; daughter, Cyndee Patridge; son-in-law, Lanier Patridge; two grandchildren, Cody and Macie Patridge, all of Athens; various other relatives also survive.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 26 at Union Primitive Baptist church, 335 Cox Rd., Milton, GA.
Lunch will be served immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Hospital for children or Seasons Hospice organization at seasonsfoundation.org.
