Cecil Galagina Summerour, 77, of Dawsonville, died July 8, 2012.

Born April 6, 1935 to the late Homer and Gertie Summerour, he lived most of his life in Dawson County.

Mr. Summerour owned and operated Cherokee Tubing & Kayak.

He was very proud of his Cherokee Indian heritage and was extremely active in the Cherokee Nation.

He was widely known for his ability to cook and especially for his boiled peanuts.

In addition to his parents, his sister, Elizabeth Sanford; and brothers, William Summerour and Marcus Summerour, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Summerour of Dawsonville; children, Rhonda Burma Bridges, Dana Summerour, Felecia and Cecil Padgett, all of Dawsonville, Laura Spain, Jay Thompson, Michael Thompson, all of Gainesville; sisters, Martha Jo Rush, Dolores Summerour, Mattie Summerour; five grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. July 14 at the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Thomas officiating.

The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. on July 14.
