Calvin Thomas

Calvin Thomas, 85, of Dawsonville, formerly of the Atlanta area, died Feb. 21, 2011.

 

Calvin was in the Navy during World War II where he served in the South Pacific Theater on a P.T. boat. After leaving the military he graduated from Georgia Military College.

 

He will always be remembered for being a coach for various little league teams. His main goal in coaching was for the "children to be first." Calvin was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and a friend to all he knew.

 

His daughter, Chris Toni Thomas, preceded him in death.

 

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Joan Thomas; children, Kandy Jill Thomas, Clint Cody Thomas, Tammy Thomas Barnett; grandchildren, Stephany Susan Peters, Britton Naomi Barnett, Christopher Luke Thomas; sister, Betty Sue Tatum; various other relatives also survive.

 

Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Feb. 26 at Ingram Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Deckard officiating.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations were requested made to the Dawson County Humane Society, 633 Martin Road, Dawsonville, GA 30534.

 

Ingram Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
