Buck Jones, 70, of Cumming, died Sept. 24, 2010.

  

He was the son of Earl and Mildred Johnson and was born May 1, 1940 in Weeksbury, Ky.

  

Mr. Jones served two tours of duty in Vietnam and retired with 20 years of service in the United State Army.

  

He served in law enforcement for 20 years, with eight years being spent as Chief of Police in Cumming.

  

He was a Christian and active member of Concord Baptist Church and Etowah Lodge #222 F&AM in Dawsonville.

  

Survivors include his wife, Treva Neal Hones of Cumming; sons, Steven (Cecila) Jones of Cumming, Billy (Claire) Herring of Mishawaka, Ind.; daughters, Kathi (James) Mathews, Sandra Furcron, both of Lexington, Terri (Frank) Goss of Dahlonega; brother, Marvin (Sandra) Jones of Florida; sister, Jean (Bobby) Johnson of Weeksbury, Ky.; sister, Anna Ruth (Garland) Thornsbury of Weeksbury, Ky.; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; various other relatives also survive.

  

A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Sept. 26 at Concord Baptist Church with Dr. Lester Cooper officiating.

  

McDonald and Son Funeral Home and Crematory of Cumming was in charge of the arrangements.
