Blanche Grogan Robinson, 96, of Oakwood, died Aug. 6, 2017.
Born Feb. 10, 1921 in Dawson County to the late Hiram L. and Maude B. Grogan, she had lived in Hall County since 1971.
Mrs. Robinson was a 1938 graduate of Dawson County High School, where she was a member of the basketball team.
During World War II, she worked at the Bell Bomber Plant in Marietta, she worked with the Dawson County School System for a number of years as a substitute teacher and worked at Shirley’s ladies clothing store in Gainesville for more than 25 years until its closing in 1999.
Blanche was an active and faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Dawsonville for nearly 80 years and was a member of the Easter Star.
Her husband of 74 years, the Dr. Herbert W. Robinson; and a sister, Buell Pirkle, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Daryl and Elaine Robinson of Roswell, Rodney Robinson of Gainesville; grandchildren, Reid and Caroline Robinson of New York, Erin Robinson of Atlanta; nieces, Judy Adams, Marsha Robinson, Sharon Fausett; nephew, Gary Robinson; various other relatives also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 10 at the First Baptist church of Dawsonville with the Dr. Jim Gaines officiating. Interment will follow in Dawsonville Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Aug. 9 at the funeral home.
