Bertha Mae Magnus Skinner, age 91, of Fayetteville, passed away July 17, 2020.

Bertha, known as “Bert,” was born on January 27, 1929, to the late Jim and Ruby Magnus. She grew up in Dawsonville alongside her brother and sister. She was a longtime resident of Atlanta where she worked as a cashier for the Super X Drug Store for 32 years. Bert moved to Fayetteville in 1993 where she enjoyed a quiet retirement.

Bert was a hard worker with a sweet disposition. She had a passion for gardening and loved her manicured lawn and blooming garden. She was an excellent baker and was famous for her pound cake. Bert was a faithful Christian a member of Lisbon Baptist Church for 25 years. She enjoyed her Sunday class at the church and all her friends there. She had a heart for animals and especially enjoyed her late dog, Toto, and late cat, Penny. Bert was a beloved mother and Memaw who will be dearly missed by her family.

Bert is survived by her children, Jim Skinner of Rockmart, Gloria Coker of Fayetteville, and Terry (Shirley) Skinner of Monroe; grandchildren, Kim Skinner, Brent Skinner, Sonny Frazier, Drew Coker and Bo Skinner; great-grandchildren, Whiley, Austin, Talan, Karlee, Dylan, Quinn, Cameron and Taylor; brother, Bill Magnus of Dawsonville; sister, Betty Morabito of Dawsonville; a number of nieces and nephews. 

A private family service will be held in Bert’s honor on August 9, 2020 at Lisbon Baptist Church.
