Authorities say that a man was injured and three dogs were killed during an early morning residential fire on Taylor Stowers Road in Dawson County.

According to Dawson County Public Information Officer Laura Fulcher, the Dawson County Fire Department was notified of a fire at a single-story, single-family home at 79 Taylor Stowers Road in south Dawson County at 9:50 a.m. on Monday morning and engines from multiple different stations began arriving on scene at 9:57 a.m.

Fulcher said that all residents were able to evacuate the home, including a male resident who received minor burns trying to save three dogs that live in the home. All three dogs perished in the fire, she said.

Firefighters took about 30 minutes to bring the fire under control, Fulcher said, but units will remain on scene throughout the afternoon to fully extinguish the fire.

Fulcher said that the home is considered a total loss due to the extent of the damage. The cause of the fire is undetermined at the present time and is under investigation.

No Dawson County firefighters or first responders were injured in this incident.
