At a time when a majority of drug overdose deaths in Georgia are due to opioids, speakers at the Dawson County Woman’s Club’s recent forum stressed that addiction is a struggle worsened by isolation.“The opposite of addiction is not sobriety. It’s connection,” Northside Hospital Behavioral Health Services Manager, Lisa Mize, said during the Oct. 19 event. “We’re shifting that culture a little bit…that it's okay to reach out for support before it gets to that (severe) point.”
