Armed with an AR-15-style rifle and acting on a divine premonition, Gabriel Jose Hernandez stood by the campus library waiting for the black car to drop off the mysterious man. When the fateful moment arrived, he would take the rifle out of its case, line up the shot and squeeze the trigger.
