GBI officials have identified a Dawsonville woman whose body was recently found near downtown Cumming and said a man has been arrested on murder charges in New Jersey in connection with her death.

Dawsonville man arrested and charged with alleged rape
Poston arrest

Authorities recently booked a Dawson County man on multiple charges.

Nicholas Ivan Poston, 20, of Dawsonville was arrested by the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office on May 20 just after 1 p.m. 

Poston faces one felony count of aggravated assault and two felony rape counts. He has also been charged with misdemeanor sexual battery. 

One DCSO warrant alleged that Poston penetrated the victim without her consent during June of 2021. Three other agency warrants stated that between Nov. 1, 2021 and Jan. 22, 2022, he allegedly touched and penetrated the female victim without her consent.

Poston remains in DCSO custody without bond.
