Dawson County man indicted on charges of allegedly having child porn while on pretrial release
Dennis Laron Brown

Note: An updated version of this story reflects Dennis Laron Brown’s current, indicted charges in two separate Dawson County cases and the outcome of his federal case. The local cases are still pending as of this update.

A Dawson County man has been formally accused of having multiple sexually explicit pictures and videos of children after his arrest earlier this year.

Dennis Laron Brown, 27, was indicted on six counts of sexual exploitation of children, according to an Oct. 17 document filed with Dawson County Superior Court.

The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office arrested Brown on Feb. 16, 2022 and initially charged him with allegedly committing four felony counts of sexual exploitation of children.

He allegedly had photographs and videos of children two to five or six years old being sexually abused in various ways stored on his phone, stated DCSO’s 2022 warrants.

At the time of Brown’s arrest, he was on pretrial release for charges in a 2021 case where he was accused of the same crime. That case is still pending at this time.

Since his February arrest, Brown has remained in custody without bond at the Dawson County Detention Center.

DCN will update this story when more information becomes available.
