Wrong return envelopes sent out with recent car tag renewals

The state of Georgia is using a new company to send out vehicle registration renewals.

But there's a small glitch in the system, according to Dawson County Tax Commissioner Linda Townley.

The return address on the renewal form does not properly fit in the return envelope window.

Townley said she noticed the discrepancy when she received her own vehicle renewal notice.

"The state is using a new company because the original company they were using went bankrupt," she said. "The problem is that the new company is not using the typical, blue return envelope, so the address is not showing properly through the window."

There is, however, an easy fix, she added.

"Fold the right side of the renewal, and it will fit in the envelope," she said.

Or if it's more convenient, send the renewal in a plain white envelope addressed to the Tax Commissioner's office and do not use the return envelope provided.
