Tanner name chair of House Motor Vehicles Committee

Rep. Kevin Tanner, R-Dawsonville, was recently named vice chairman of the House Motor Vehicle Committee.

"I am humbled that the Speaker and the Committee on Assignments appointed me to this important position in the House," said Rep. Tanner. "I have a great deal of respect for Chairman Rice, and I look forward to working with him in a leadership role."

Chaired by Rep. Tom Rice, R-Norcross, the House Motor Vehicles Committee deals with issues concerning Driver's Licenses, Motor Carrier laws and the Uniform Rules of the Road.

It also deals with laws pertaining to motor vehicle tags, their titles and registration.

Elected in 2012, Tanner currently serves as a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Education, as well as on the Education, Natural Resources & Environment, and Special Rules committees.

Additionally, he is secretary on the Intragovernmental Coordination Committee.

Tanner represents the citizens of District 9, which includes portions of Dawson, Forsyth and Lumpkin counties.
