Officials say that a Dawson County inmate who escaped from a work detail in late May has been recaptured in Forsyth County by local authorities. 

According to Forsyth County Sheriff's Office spokesman Cpl. Doug Rainwater, Jeremy Lee Pruitt-Akins, 29 and a female suspect, Lea Marie Propst, 27, were taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon after they were found walking along Burruss Mill Road in northeast Forsyth. 

Rainwater said that deputies had been heavily patrolling Burruss Mill Road since the previous evening, after receiving a tip that the wanted man could be found in the area.

Prior to his escape, Pruitt-Akins was being held in the Dawson County Jail for allegedly failing to comply with a treatment court. 

Dawson County Authorities say that Pruitt-Akins and Propst are currently being processed into the Dawson County Jail. 

On May 30, Donny Cooper Akins, a resident of Cumming and the inmate's uncle, was arrested by Dawson County authorities in connection with Pruitt-Akin's escape. 

At the time of his arrest, authorities said that Donny Akins was the authorized driver responsible for transporting Pruitt-Akins to his place of employment, and was charged with one count of Aiding Escape for allegedly transporting the inmate to Gainesville so that he could leave the state. 

Donny Akins was later released from the Dawson County Jail on May 31 after posting a $5,000 bond.
