Several local restaurants will showcase a collection of appetizers, entrees and desserts during the third annual Taste of Dawson High on Saturday.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the commons area at Dawson County High School. Admission is $5 per person, or a maximum of $20 per family. Children younger than five are free.

Proceeds from the fundraiser benefit the Parent Teacher Student Organization, which supports the school's clubs and sports teams, as well as providing annual scholarships to deserving students.

"The money the PTSO raises from the event will be used toward two $500 scholarships which will be given in May 2012 to two graduating seniors," said event-organizer Karen Armstrong.

Funds will also support an account the school has established for students who need financial assistance with costs associated with school trips, club dues, prom expenses and parking passes, among others.

Clubs and donors have also supplied holiday baskets and gifts for a bidding auction.

Vendors also plan to set up booths during the event to showcase a variety of local products and services from chocolate and floral design to massage and hair accessories.
