Student takes part in summer program

Harrison Summerour, an eighth grade student at Dawson County Middle School, participated in the summer students program for academically gifted students conducted by the Duke University Talent Identification Program.

  

He spent three weeks this summer at Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C., where he took a physics class.

  

Summerour is in the gifted program at Dawson County Middle School, plays football, is a member of the yearbook staff and a member of the youth group at First Presbyterian Church in Gainesville.

  

He plans on going into the military after college, where he will receive training that will enable him to be a pilot for a major airline.

  

He is the son of Mark and Charise Summerour of Dawsonville.
