The National Beta Club announced that Amanda Florentine has been named a Beta Scholar that entitles her to a scholarship award.

Florentine, a senior at DCHS, competed against more than 1,000 candidates nationwide for this honor. Two hundred nineteen scholarship recipients were chosen. She plans to attend Georgia Tech in Atlanta. She was recommended for the award by local Beta Club sponsor, Lori Hughes and high school principal, Dr. Jute Wilson.

“This outstanding young person represents the true spirit of National Beta, having excelled not only academically, but in leadership and service to school and community as well,” said Ken Cline, executive director of the National Beta Club.

Florentine is the daughter of Larry and Caryl Florentine.
