If there is anything you ever wanted to know about the Dawson County school system, your chance to have all those burning questions answered is coming up.

The Dawson County School System will be hosting its inaugural 1Dawson Learning Academy next month for parents and community members to learn more about each and every department of the school system.

After introductions from Superintendent Damon Gibbs, each department head will have an opportunity to present in front of the audience. Questions will be taken after all of the presentations.

“The Learning Academy will provide our community with an opportunity to learn more about each of the operational areas of the school system,” Gibbs said. “We are excited to kick off this new learning opportunity for the residents of Dawson County.”

The learning academy will take place over two Tuesdays, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 11 and Sept. 18 at the Professional Development Center at 30 Main Street.

Those interested in attending are asked to come to both days, though it is not required.

On Sept. 11, participants will hear from the finance, human resources, facilities, transportation, operations and safety and nutrition departments.

On Sept. 18, the technology, teaching and learning, testing and SI&A, student services and exceptional children departments will be presenting information about their programs.

Space for the event is limited and those interested are asked to RSVP online or by calling (706) 265-3246.
