Dawson County schools releasing students at 12:30 p.m.
Weather closings for TM

An arctic cold front moving through North Georgia over the next several hours has Dawson County school leaders making the move to send students home early today.

All Dawson County schools will be releasing students at 12:30 p.m., according to a spokesperson at the central office.

Forecasts are calling for up to 2 inches of snow. Higher elevations could possibly see more.

In addition to the winter weather advisory, Dawson County is also under a wind chill advisory until 10 a.m. Thursday with wind chill factors between negative five and five degrees across parts of North Georgia.

Despite the turmoil over the last year, as classes were canceled and pushed online due to COVID-19, the graduation rate in Dawson County for 2020 remains one of the highest in the state, according to Dawson County Schools Superintendent Damon Gibbs.
