Rotary Club of Dawson County's October Student of the Month is Brock Bearden, a fifth-grader at Black's Mill Elementary School.

According to Principal Cindy Kinney, he maintains good grades, has an excellent work ethic, helps others without being asked and does what is asked of him without complaint.

"He is always polite and has an easy-going personality. He is a true delight," Kinney said.

Rotary Club President Vernon Smith presented Bearden with movie tickets and a variety of sweet treats for his award-winning attitude last week.

"The Rotary Club of Dawson County believes the future of our community lies with the elementary students of Dawson County," Smith said. "We have developed this program to encourage and promote outstanding fifth-grade students in each elementary school."

The club meets for breakfast at 7:30 a.m. each Thursday at the Lakeview Center on Dawson Forest Road. Guests are welcome.
