Rebecca Brandt of Dawsonville was selected as recipient of the $1,000 ABC Literary Scholarship from the Dawson County Chamber of Commerce and the Reading Education Association of Dawson County.

The scholarship was established to encourage high school students to continue their education at a post-secondary institution of higher learning.

Mike Underwood, chamber of commerce chairman, awarded Brandt with the scholarship May 11 during honors night.

Brandt served as a member of the United Community Bank Junior Board of Directors, is a member of the National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America and Distributive Education Clubs of America.

In addition, she was a cheerleader at Dawson County High School and a member of the competitive cheerleading team.
