The Tigers defeated three conference opponents last week as the regular season came to an end. Dawson was able to nix North Hall, wipe out West Hall and bash up Banks County to improve their overall record to 19-6 and their region record 10-4.

The winning streak also secured the Tigers a number two seed in a fierce 7AAA conference.

Wow, said Thad Burgess, DCHSs head boys basketball coach, what a gigantic week for us. Winning the last three and then getting a number seed at home is something I never could have imagined.

Burgess applauded his team for their defense, particularly their rebounding, over the three game stretch.

All three teams like to push the ball up the court, and we were able to hold them to an average of 40 points, Burgess said. Our defense and rebounding for three straight games was a key.

The Tigers started the week with a 51-44 victory over North Hall. Cameron Millholland and Sam Muenchen each scored 13 points to led all scorers. The Tigers connected on 11 three- pointers which helped them maintain the lead throughout the game. Muenchen hit four three-pointers in the first half.

After nixing North Hall, Dawson hosted West Hall and earned a lopsided 57-37 win over the Spartans. The game was tied 18-18 at halftime, but the Tigers went on a 21-8 run in the third quarter that the Spatans never recovered from. Levi Whitmire led Dawson with his 20 points. Millholland contributed 16 points.

The White County game last Friday, Feb. 7, was Homecoming night for the Tigers.

The next night pitted the Tigers versus Banks County. Dawson would best the Leopards 53-38 to finish their regular season.

Our intensity and effort was key to the games in the third and fourth quarters, Burgess said. With Homecoming on Friday and then Senior Night on Saturday, these were proud nights for our team and community. I am so proud of the entire team. All the boys on this team care.

The Tigers will look to extend their streak into the postseason when they host North Hall on Wednesday, Feb. 12. Tip-off is at 7:30 p.m. The winner of the game will advance to the Region Tournament and semifinals on Friday, Feb. 14, at Buford.
