Two Dawson County Sheriffs Deputies were recognized for their work with the countys drug court during the county commissioners meeting Thursday evening.
Commission Chair Mike Berg gave a presentation in which he noted the exemplary work of Investigators Jessica Wright and Jeremy Thompson.
"Theyve conducted over 200 narcotic operations, initiated several hundred narcotic arrests, seized over $250,000 worth of drug assets, and they assist the GBI, the FBI and other agencies," Berg said.
Some of those arrested participated in drug court where Berg and fellow commissioners attended graduation.
At graduation, these individuals talk about how theyve benefited from the program, Berg explained. Whats most interesting is that in a lot of cases they stand up and thank these two individuals for arresting them.
Being arrested was the start of life-changes, Berg said, which is why he recognized the officers who stood during the chairmans comments. The audience responded with resounding applause.
We really appreciate you and your support and for this recognition, Wright said to commissioners.
Wright and Thompson have worked together for seven years and have nearly 30 years combined law enforcement experience.
Im very honored to be recognized and to serve in such a fine community, Wright said.
Thompson was humble and grateful about the recognition.
Im proud to be a part of the great law enforcement community in north Georgia, he said.
