Rockin it in the Sticks festival this weekend

This weekend, Dawsonville City Hall will be rocking, and youre invited to come on in and join the fun. Well, after you purchase a ticket, that is.

The first-ever Rocking it in the Sticks festival will be held Friday night and Saturday behind City Hall.

Festival promoters Jennifer Moore and Donavon Hyder have selected eight cover bands to play over the course of the two days. Friday night, Slippery When Wet, Departure and Tres Diablos, Bon Jovi, Journey and

cover bands will take the stage. Saturdays lineup includes Appetite for Destruction, Back in Black, Red White & Crue, Poisond and SMAC, Guns N Roses, AC/DC, Motley Crue and Poison cover bands will be rocking the venue.

In addition to the music, there will also be plenty of food, drink and crafts, Moore said. Sponsors that will be on site include Killer Creek Harley Davidson, John Megel Chevrolet, Reliable Heating and Air Conditioning, Rock 100.5, Castleberry Ale House, Avita, Yuengling, Sweetwater and Corbin Sweet Potato Vodka.

Dawsonville Mayor James Grogan said this will be the event of the spring. Six great cover bands representing some of the greatest rock bands of the last 40 years. Bon Jovi, Journey, ZZ Top, Guns and Roses, AC-DC, Motley Crew, and Poison will be featured. Dawsonville welcomes you to this extraordinary event, Grogan said.

Tickets are $10 per day in advance or $15 at the gate. A two-day pass in advance is $20, or $30 at the gate. VIP tickets also are available for $30 in advance or $35 at the gate. VIP ticket holders receive tent seating, two free beers and a t-shirt. Parking is available at the middle and high school for an additional $5 and is coordinated by local Boy Scouts. A limited amount of RV parking is also available for $20.

A portion of the ticket proceeds will benefit Livis Wish Foundation, a foundation in honor of Livi Graham, a local child suffering from leukemia.
