It's official: Nordson Overlook Road is now Northside Dawson Drive. Community and Chamber of Commerce members gathered to dedicate the name change at a Business After Hours event Tuesday night. Cynthia Blount, director of the Northside Dawson Medical Campus, said the change came because the hospital wanted to make access and directions easier for patients. The medical campus is part of Northside Hospital. Vice President Lynn Jackson said she thought the change made sense since there was no longer a connection to the name Nordson. "We love that now our name and Dawson's name are on that sign," Jackson said. "That for us is just very special. .. It just worked out so beautifully." Jackson said the city and the county were both helpful in walking the hospital through the name change. Part of changing the name of the street also involved talking with other property owners on the street and making sure they were okay with the change. "The neat thing was it was sort of serendipitous," Jackson said. "Interestingly enough, we got the opportunity to know our neighbors in the process." Jackson said she thinks having the name recognition on the road will help patients, especially those seeking urgent care. The new address for the Northside Dawson Medical Campus is 81 Northside Dawson Drive.
