Dawson Countys first-ever Christmas parade will be held Saturday, Dec. 7.

The Dawson County Chamber of Commerce is coordinating the parade.

We are very excited to help host the first annual Christmas parade for our community, Chamber of Commerce president Christie Haynes said. All are welcome to participate and attend. We hope that this event will help bring our community together to help spread the spirit of the season.

The parade will begin at 4 p.m. at the Historic cemetery on Academy Street. It will proceed down Highway 53 and end atthe Dawsonville Municipal Complex.

Floats that choose to pay the $20 fee to be judged will be eligible for awards. Awards are: Best of Parade, Most Creative, Peoples Choice, and Best in Class.

Entrants who do not wish to be judged may participate in the parade at no cost.

Floats can vary from bands, cars and trucks, horses, tractors and more.

After the parade, the City of Dawsonville will host its annual tree-lighting at 6 p.m.

There will also be music, dancing and photo-taking with Santa.
