Dawson County High School Principal Dr. Jute Wilson is the sole finalist for another school districts superintendent position.

Keith Porter, Dawson Countys School Superintendent, said Wilson was named the sole finalist for the Lamar County superintendent job.

Porter said Wilson has not yet submitted his resignation to the Dawson County Board because of a 14-day waiting period required once the school district names a finalist. But if all goes as expected, Wilson can submit his resignation during the Board of Educations next work session on Tuesday, May 6.

Wilsons first day on the job in Lamar County will be July 1 once the waiting period passes.

It has been a real honor and a privilege to serve in Dawson County, Wilson said. I have thoroughly enjoyed every job assignment and every place I have worked. The leadership in Dawson County has been very supportive. Throughout my career I have been blessed to work under several great school leaders. I hope to pull from their influence as I transition to this new role.

Wilson said the transition will make him much closer to his family that lives in south Georgia.

We are grateful for the opportunities we have had in North Georgia. We made life-long friends and had a wonderful experience. We sincerely wish our North Georgia family the very best in the years to come, Wilson said.

Wilson spent four years with the Dawson County School system.
