A Dawson County teacher and a Gilmer County man have been arrested.

Nicole Leigh Cagle, 41, a teacher at Robinson Elementary School, was arrested in Gilmer County in the early morning hours of June 22. She was charged with being a party to the crime of criminal trespass, and allowing another to violate state law, according to an incident report obtained from the Gilmer County Sheriffs office.

Cagle is a resident of Ellijay in Gilmer County. She is a fourth-grade teacher at Robinson Elementary School and has been with the school system since August 2005, according to Dianne Allison, payroll and benefits administrator with the Dawson County School Board.

Dawson County School Superintendent Dr. Damon Gibbs was reached by phone for comment.

We are aware of the incident and we are investigating, he said.

Cagle was released from the Gilmer County Detention Center on June 22 after posting a $2,000 bond.

Arrested with Cagle at the scene was Stephen Ray Sanford, 37, of Gilmer County on charges of possession of methamphetamine, terroristic threats and acts, and having an open container while operating a vehicle, according to the report.

Sanford was released June 22 after posting a $5,500 bond.

Court dates for the pair are pending.
