Im very excited, said Gordon Pirkle, president of the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame. My phones rung all day about it.
The event is free, and the community is invited to attend. Following the announcement, there will be a question-and-answer session with the driver.
Elliott has had two wins in his rookie season on the NASCAR Nationwide Series. He took the checkered flag at Darlington and Richmond, and he is currently in third place for point standings.
On Aug. 30, Elliott will make his first Nationwide Series start at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. But its certainly not his first visit to the track. From 2007 to 2009, Elliott raced Legends and Badolero cars on the quarter-mile Thunder Ring at the Speedways Thursday Thunder.
Fans also are invited to watch Elliott on a big screen Saturday, July 12, at the Georgia Racing Hall of Fame. He will race at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The race begins at 3:30 p.m.
