A 24-year-old Dahlonega woman was arrested Monday after she reportedly took about $30,000 from the local Walmart.

Miranda Marlow, who worked in customer service at the super center, has been charged by the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office with one felony count of theft by deception.

Marlow was released on $10,000 bond from the Dawson County Detention center shortly after she turned herself in, authorities said.

The alleged thefts occurred between December 2009 and Feb. 28, according to Sheriff’s Capt. Tony Wooten.

Marlow is accused of altering Walmart sales return receipts, causing funds to be transferred into her bank account.

“We believe that amount to be around $30,000,” Wooten said.

Phone calls seeking comment from Walmart officials went unreturned.
