A Wednesday-only burglary spree authorities say dates back to 2008 ended Jan. 6 with the arrest of a Forsyth County man who was caught taking $7 from a local medical practice.

Frank Alan Asher, 47, of Crossroads Road is being held without bail at the Dawson County Jail.

Asher faces 18 felony charges ranging from burglary and possession of tools for commission of a crime to possession of firearms by a convicted felon.

Dawson County Sheriff’s Deputy Jimmi Smith said Asher has admitted burglarizing the clinic, a local pediatrician’s office and a medical clothing shop about a dozen times since 2008.

“He’ll only admit to what we ask him if he’s done, but we think he’s burglarized more offices than we know about over the years,” Smith said.

All the incidents occurred on a Wednesday, and each time Asher reportedly took only cash.

“He said Wednesday was the only night his wife let him out of the house,” Smith said.

He said Asher, who is unemployed, told him he took the money to play cards at a local bar on Wednesday nights. The amounts taken ranged from $1 to about $250.

Asher was arrested outside Ankle and Foot Centers of North Georgia after he reportedly entered the medical practice and helped himself to $7 in cash.

Smith, who had made photo copies of the serial numbers on the bills, and Deputy Mark Caruana were waiting nearby when Asher arrived at the clinic about 6:30 p.m.
