A Dawson County man has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a child molestation arrest in 2012.

Travis Allen Rice, 20, received a 12-year sentence last week, with the first 30 months to be served on work release followed by probation.

He must also register as a sex offender, according to court documents.

Rice was arrested Aug. 8, 2012, on warrants that he allegedly had committed sexual acts to and with a young girl in Dawson County.

Sheriff's Capt. Tony Wooten said the girl was 7 or younger at the time of the abuse. The child's relationship to Rice was not revealed.

Originally charged with aggravated child molestation, Rice entered a guilty plea on the lesser charge of child molestation.
