A Dawsonville man was arrested Monday on charges he molested a teenage girl several times over a four-year period.

Robert Glenn Mayo Jr., 31, of southeastern Dawson County, faces one count of aggravated child molestation and three counts of aggravated battery. All the charges are felonies.

Dawson County Sheriff’s Lt. Tony Wooten said the alleged sexual contact began in 2006 at the suspect’s home and continued on several occasions over the next four years.

According to sheriff’s reports, the girl, who is younger than 16, told a family member over the weekend about the alleged sexual abuse.

The family member then notified authorities.

“Investigator Jarrett Simpson questioned the suspect on Monday and made the arrest,” Wooten said.

Mayo, who was scheduled to appear Tuesday afternoon before a Magistrate Court Judge, was being held at the Dawson County Law Enforcement Center.

A court clerk said his charges are not bondable in Magistrate Court and would be bound over to Superior Court.
