A Dahlonega teen faces felony theft charges stemming from a June 2011 burglary.

Jackson Edward Kearns, 19, turned himself in to authorities Oct. 22.

Charged with seven counts of theft by taking and a single burglary count, Kearns is being held at the Dawson County jail. No bond has been set.

Kearns' alleged involvement in the burglary on Oak Creek Way, off Nix Bridge Road, came to light when a second defendant in the case agreed to cooperate, authorities said.

Garrett Alexander Jasper Ashworth, 24, of Dawsonville was arrested July 13, 2011, after a search of a home on War Hill Park Road recovered items stolen in the Oak Creek Way burglary.

"We always thought there was someone else [involved] because of the amount of property that was taken," said sheriff's investigator Jarrett Simpson.

According to Simpson, the investigation also uncovered evidence against a Lumpkin County couple who authorities say are responsible for unrelated burglaries on Bailey Waters Road, Elliott Family Parkway and Old Henry Grady Road in 2011.

Janet Welch was charged with burglary Sept. 21 and has been released on bond. There are active warrants for her husband, Curtis Anthony Welch, who is currently serving a six-month sentence in Lumpkin County.
